Druze & Jews-Why!!
The relation of the Druze faith with Judaism we see that in the Druze tradition the Jews are said to be divided into twelve tribes, two tribes and a half are lost. The Druze claim to be these lost tribes. In their belief, the lost tribes (which became the Druze) left Judaism and joined Christianity and Islam afterwards. And their final station was the Druze's tawhid i.e. Monotheism. For this reason the Druze glorify the prophets of the Bible and give a
special esteem to David and Solomon. The other prophets of Israel are classified in a hierarchic order. The number of prophets for one epoch is one hundred sixty four. This number is based on a legendary science where conclusions
are obtained from an arithmetical relation between the Arabic letters and the number corresponding to them. The prophets are called "letters of veracity" and they transmigrate from one epoch to another spreading the word of God across the ages, and preparing his people to welcome eternal happiness after the Judgment Day. We conclude that the three celestial religions with respect to the Druze are three consecutive stages by which God has sent his aid and blessing to humanity. Truth and Reality are found in the three Holy Books; the Old Testament, the Gospels, and the Koran. The truth is revealed to the believers by Wisdom. The Druze has unified the three dogmas in one consistent doctrine. |

This was the reply that Dr. Amin sent to me.
Dear Druze girl,
My answer to your question:
We are nearer to the Islam religion just since 1000 years, when we were called Druze after the name of the Fatimide Egyptian messenger Nishtakin Darazy, who brought his messages to our people, before they were called Druze or Muwahedoon. Our people before that believed in Jehovah, the God that is mentioned in the Old Testament, the God of Abraham. And before 1000 years they accepted all the theories that Darazy brought from Egypt, because the King of Egypt promised to protect our people from their enemies. So our people added the teachings of Egypt to our belief, and all of it got mixed up. The then generations knew the source and the reason of accepting it, but after several generations, when the older ones who received Darazy died, the new generations did not know the true story about these beliefs, so they added them to our first true belief in the only God almighty, the God of Abraham.
The original Druze religion is the bible religion, and we believed in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. Jesus is our Messiah. But our people were afraid of the Muslims who lived around them and acted like them and celebrated their feasts, just in order to keep their peace.
But please notice that our people do not believe in Muhammad the prophet of the Muslims. Also, we are not only Jewish origin, but also partly we are the tribe of the Druze prophet Jethro (Shoe’eb) , the father in law of Moses. The people of Jethro our prophet were mixed with the Hebrews and partly became part of the tribe of Judea ( Yehuda) , when the lord Jesus began his mission, our people followed Him, believed in Him, so in principle we are the descendants of the first disciples of the Lord Jesus.
So Islam is not really our original religion, and we have nothing to do with the book of the Muslims, the Koran.
If you check our religion you can see that Mohammad has no status in our books.
With my respect
Dr. Amin
THASNK YOU DR. AMIN FOR YOUR REPLY, YOU WERE A BIG HELP TO ME.

I agree with your comment. I have many friends who are Jews and a Rabbine told me that we, Druze are Jews, Mizrahim, well known as the native Jews, but for survival reasons we had to hide our origin to stop muslims killing our people. In summary, I do not understant why most of Arab countries look at Druze as no Arabs or why they do not like us. I had the experience during a trip to Damascus when guys stoped talking to me after they discovered that I belong to the Druze faith
